Theory
Theory: Elements and Structure
- Through an understanding of the elements and structures of music, students develop listening skills that increase their appreciation of all musical experiences.
- Theory: Elements and Structures is divided into three sections: Focused Listening, Theory and Notation, and Ear Training.
- Students use focused listening to concentrate on the elements of music and how these elements are dealt with by musicians.
- Students will study theory and notation to understand the organization of music in a theoretical and notated form.
- Ear training will allow students to build up an increased aural awareness of what musical sounds are being heard.
