History of Western Music

• By understanding the similarities and differences between the musical communities of the past and those of the present, students develop a better understanding of their own musical heritage.
• Students will delve into the lives of composers and uncover an interdisciplinary cross-section of world history that includes art, literature, science and socio-political ideas. Students will become acquainted with the music of various time periods and composers.
