Sports Performance 15 is the Alberta Education name for any of the Sports Academy classes. When a student successfully completes a sports academy class it will appear as sports performance 15-25 or 35 on their official school transcript.
This course focuses on the physical and academic aspects of sports education. Sports performance will provide students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes to understand a multitude of factors related to their sports performance.
Students will engage in a combination of theory and physical experiences related to areas of sport. Sports performance will emphasize training principles, sports nutrition, sports psychology, performance enhancements, injury prevention, sports studies, and skill development.
Sports Performance is designed for students who have a passion for improving their athleticism and increasing their knowledge about athletic training. Students will learn and engage in strength, agility, flexibility, and speed training.
Sports Performance 25 and 35 is the second and third class in the Sports Performance series that is offered at Catholic Central High School.
These classes will deal with the advanced training practices for developing strength, agility, flexibility and speed.
Students will learn how one’s body will react to heart rate training. In-depth psychological and nutritional information will be presented which will assist the student in improving their personal athletic performance.
