On-Ice Programs

The on-ice component of this course is skill development, no systems will be taught at anytime. On-ice sessions will be high tempo, structured for skill development and challenging.
  • Players have approximately three on-ice sessions per week.
  • Players are responsible and committed to their Minor Hockey team.  Working with Minor Hockey coaches and managers in further developing hockey skills with players is a goal of the Hockey Academy.
  • Drills are designed for maximum usage of ice-time and will be taught in a progressive manner based on individual skill level.

Skaters:

  • Skating, shooting, passing & puck control
  • Stick and body checking
  • Execution of skills and tactics at high speed
  • Timing, saving ice, angling and support
  • Communication, intensity and deception
  • Puck possession and puck pursuit
  • Offensive and defensive tactics
  • Creativity and hockey sense

Goaltenders:

  • Positioning in net and crease
  • Stance and positioning and 2nd puck positioning
  • Rebound control, timing and puck control
  • Communication and composure
